Dr. Francis Fang of Eisai Pharmaceuticals has received the 2019 Derek Horton Award in Industrial Chemistry. Dr. Fang received his B.S. in chemistry from UMass Amherst.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Yale under the direction of Samuel Danishefsky. Following postdoctoral studies with Yoshito Kishi, Dr. Fang joined the process group at GlaxoWellcome in 1991. After 6 years at Glaxo, he joined Eisai in 1997, where he is currently Deputy President and Head of the Integrated Chemistry Engine at Eisai’s Andover innovative Medicines Institute (AiM). Dr. Fang has numerous publication and over 40 patents. Dr. Fang was also the recipient of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan Award for Drug Research and Development (2013).
