Congratulations to Professor Peng G. WanG on receiving the 2021 Claude S. Hudson Award!


Professor Peng G. Wang, Chair Professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Medicine at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), has received the 2021 Claude S. Hudson Award for outstanding contributions to carbohydrate chemistry in education, research, or applications. Professor Wang earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Nankai University in 1984 and his Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley in 1990.
Following postdoctoral work at University of California, Berkeley and Scripps Research Institute from 1991-1994, Prof. Wang began his independent career at University of Miami in 1994. He held positions as Professor and Chair at Wayne State University, The Ohio State University, and Georgia State University, served as the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Nankai University, and founded and directed the National Sugar Engineering Technology Research Center. Prof. Wang’s research focuses are in the field of sugar chemistry, with his research interests ranging from pharmaceutical chemistry, sugar biology, chemical biology, glycoproteins, and biological engineering of natural products. He has published over 430 papers, and has won numerous awards for his work.
