2021 Horace S. Isbell Award Winner – Dr. Matthew Pratt

CONGRATULATIONS to Professor MATTHEW PRATT on Receiving the 2021 Horace S. Isbell award!

Professor Matthew Pratt, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biological Sciences at University of Southern California, has received the 2021 Horace S. Isbell Award for excellence in and promise of continued quality of contribution to research in carbohydrate chemistry.  Prof. Pratt received his B.S. from the University of Arizona, Tucson in 1999 before moving to University of California, Berkeley where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2004 under Prof. Carolyn Bertozzi. 

Following postdoctoral studies with Prof. Tom Muir at Rockefeller University, he began his independent career at University of Southern California in 2009.  Prof. Pratt’s research focuses on developing chemical tools to study the molecular consequences of protein glycosylation in cells and living organisms. His work has been recognized by numerous awards, including the David Y. Gin New Investigator Award (2015), and it has resulted in more than 65 publications to date.
