CONGRATULATIONS TO PROFESSOR MIA HUANG ON RECEIVING THE 2023 DAVID Y. GIN YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD!
Professor Mia Huang, Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Medicine at Scripps Research, has been awarded the 2023 David Y. Gin Young Investigator Award. This Award is given for outstanding contributions to research in carbohydrate chemistry by scientists in the first seven years of their independent career. Prof. Huang received her B.A. in Chemistry from the City University of New York Queens College and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from New York University. Following postdoctoral studies with Prof. David Spiegel at Yale University and Prof. Kamil Godula at UC San Diego, she launched her independent research program at Scripps Research in 2018 (scripps.edu/huang). Prof. Huang’s research lies at the intersection of the proteome and the glycome. Her group develops strategies to fabricate defined protein glycoconjugates and to study the interactions between glycoproteins and glycan-binding proteins in cells. She has earned a NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award (2017), a NIH Maximizing Investigator’s Research Award (R35, 2021), and the Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation Award (2021).
