Dr. John Vercellotti presented with Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. John Vercellotti

Dr. John Vercellotti, Vice-president and Senior Chemist of V-LABS Inc., has been awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who for his work in the Chemical Sciences. Dr. Vercellotti received his B.A. in chemistry from St. Bonaventure University, and his M.S. in chemistry from Marquette University in 1960. In 1963 he obtained his Ph.D. under the direction of Melville Wolfrom at the Ohio State University.

Following time as a research associate at OSU, he took a position as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Marquette University in 1964, before moving first to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1967 (as an associate professor), then Virginia Tech in 1970 (as full professor). In 1979 he moved to the Gulf South Research Institute where he remained until 1985, when he joined the Southern US Department of Agriculture as research Chemist until his retirement. Since 1995 he has been Vice-president with V-LABS Inc.

Dr. Vercellotti has made many contributions to both the ACS and CARB where he served as an officer for several years. He has previously received the Melville S. Wolfrom award from the division (1994) and was elected an ACS fellow in 2011.
